Privacy Policy for Python Central Hub
Last updated: 05/10/2026
This policy explains what Python Central Hub stores about you, where, and why. It describes what the site actually does today; if that changes, this page changes with it.
If you have a question about your data, write to ravikishan63392@gmail.com.
The short version
- You can read every lesson without an account. Without one, your progress stays in your own browser and nothing about it reaches us.
- With an account, we store your name, email address, profile and course progress so they follow you between devices.
- Code you run in exercises and the playground runs in your browser. It is not sent to us.
- We count page views and page speed without cookies and without identifying you.
- We do not sell your data, show ads, or use advertising trackers.
Without an account
Your progress (lessons you marked done, quiz results, exercises passed, exercise drafts, notes, bookmarks, enrolled courses, theme and similar settings) is saved in your browser's local storage under keys starting with pch-. It never leaves your device. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.
With an account
Accounts are provided by Google Firebase Authentication. When you sign up we store:
- Account details: your email address, display name, and, if you sign in with Google or GitHub, the profile picture address that provider gives us. If you have no picture, the site shows an emoji chosen from your account id; no image is stored.
- Profile: anything you add on your profile page, and your settings (whether you appear on the leaderboard, whether you want the weekly email).
- Progress: completed lessons per course, quiz results, exercises passed, bookmarks and private notes, exam attempts and their scores, and the certificates issued to you.
This is stored in Google Cloud Firestore and is readable only by you and by the site's server code. When you sign in, progress kept in your browser is merged into your account.
Things that are public by design
- Certificates. Anyone with a certificate's id or link can see the name on it, the course, and the date. That is what lets an employer check it. Certificates cannot be listed or searched.
- Leaderboard and public profile. Only if you opt in. Your row shows your display name, profile picture and scores, and links to a public profile page listing your lesson counts per course and your certificates. Opting out removes both.
- Course ratings. Only if you rate a course. The course page shows your stars, your review and your first name. Deleting your account removes your ratings.
Exercises and the Python playground
Python runs inside your browser using Pyodide. Your code and its output stay on your device. To run, the page downloads Pyodide and Python packages from the jsDelivr CDN and, for a few packages, from PyPI; those services see a normal download request from your browser, as they would for any website. Code that you write to fetch a URL makes that request from your browser too.
To work offline, the site keeps the lessons you open and the downloaded Python runtime in your browser's cache. This stays on your device; clearing site data removes it.
Analytics and performance
We use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights. They record which pages are viewed, the referring site, rough country, browser and device type, and how fast pages load. They do not use cookies, do not store your IP address, and cannot follow you across sites or identify you. We use this to see which lessons are read and which pages are slow.
We do not use Google Analytics or advertising cookies.
Error reports
When something on the site breaks in your browser, it sends us a short report: the error message, where in the code it happened, the page address, and your browser's user agent. Server errors are recorded the same way. Reports contain no account details and are kept in our hosting provider's logs, which expire automatically.
If you turn on the weekly email in your profile, we send a short note when you are close to a course certificate. It goes only to a verified email address, and every message links to the setting that turns it off. We do not send newsletters or marketing email, and we do not share your address.
Mail is delivered through an email-sending service (Resend, or Google Firebase's email extension), which processes your address only to deliver the message.
Contact and feedback forms
What you type into the contact or feedback form, together with the page you sent it from, is stored so we can read and answer it. The forms use Google reCAPTCHA v3 to block spam, which is covered by Google's Privacy Policy and Terms.
Cookies
Python Central Hub sets no advertising or tracking cookies. Firebase Authentication keeps you signed in using your browser's storage. Everything else listed above uses local storage on your device.
Who processes your data
- Vercel hosts the site, runs its server code, and provides the analytics above.
- Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) stores accounts and progress.
- Google reCAPTCHA checks form submissions.
- jsDelivr and PyPI serve the Python runtime and packages to your browser.
- An email-sending service delivers the weekly email, if you asked for it.
These services may process data outside your country.
Your choices
- See your data: the profile page lets you download everything stored for your account as a JSON file.
- Change it: edit your profile and settings at any time.
- Delete it: the profile page deletes your account, your progress, your ratings and your leaderboard row. Certificates already issued stay verifiable, because people may have shared them; write to us if you want one withdrawn.
Children
Python Central Hub is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly create accounts for them. If you believe a child has an account, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. Significant changes will be noted on the site.
